Finally, after all these mixes, I am including a little bit of Ground Zero’s seminal Consume Red in a mix. Originally released in 1997 this nearly hour long track of noise/rock/avant/jazz is Otomo’s finest moment. I wanted to mix tracks with vibrant drums and percussion with complex rhythms, of a modern composition and synthetic/industrial nature (not so much rock n roll I mean). Also, Deutsch Nepal’s Benevolence celebrates 30 years this year, my favourite DN album and a reference in 90’s post-industrial music. Jason Van Gulick is a musician I want to see live whenever that may be possible.
